About Your Bamboo Cutting Board
Bamboo is a sustainable, fast-growing grass that is tougher than many wood boards. It is also gentler on your knives. It is a beautiful accessory to display on your countertop.
One side of your cutting board will be engraved while the other side is a functional cutting board.
Wash and dry the cutting board immediately after each use. Do not let it soak or put it in the dishwasher. Prolonged exposure to water will warp the board and may cause it to crack. After drying stand the board on an end to allow any excess water to evaporate.
Use a food-grade mineral oil to condition the board and keep it in good shape. Food-grade mineral oil acts as a moisturizer for the bamboo while keeping out excess water. If you use your board often, condition once every two weeks. When the board is clean and dry, rub the oil in to all surfaces of the board, including the sides and inside the handle, if your board has a handle.
Do not use cooking oils to condition the board. Olive oil, vegetable oil, coconut oil, and others like these will go rancid, making your board smell bad and those smells and tastes will transfer to your food.
To remove smells and stains, experts recommend using lemon juice or baking soda. Sprinkle one or the other on the board and scrub with a damp rag. Never use bleach, isopropyl alcohol or other cleaning products to clean the board. Be sure to condition the board once it is fully dry.
Proper care of your board will ensure that it will last a long time and remain a beautiful piece in your kitchen.
